Today was a very interesting day . . . We left the conference and started heading down to Marathon FL to go sailing with my grandfather on his sailboat. About half way down (in Ft. Lauderdale) we called him and told him where we were and how far away we were. Well somehow there was a mis-communication? or something happened? and he didnt realize we were coming! haha. SO we stayed in Ft. Lauderdale for the night and went to Calvary Chapel Ft. Lauderdale for wednesday night service and then drove around Lauderdale for an HOUR AND A HALF, looking for a hotel that was a million dollars a night. Finally we found this one, and let me tell you. My mother wasnt the happiest person alive that it was 11:00pm and just getting to a hotel, haha. Anyways it was quite a day, but one of the things I love the most about my family, is that no matter what, they always make the best out of whatever comes our way! :)

SO. I tried my best to document the second day of the conference for you... yes i'm a little behind in posting... but I thought, instead of just rambling on i'd show you some of what has happened the last three days :) We had LOTS of great teaching, worship, and fellowship!

What a day. Today has been filled with worship, teaching, and learning. We are attending the Calvary Chapel Pastors Conference at Calvary Chapel Merritt Island Church. Its THREE full days of worship and teaching from some amazing pastors.

Today we were able to here teachings from Don McClure, Don Stewart and Jon Courson as well as a hello from Pastor Chuck Smith.

The day begun with wonderful worship with songs and then went into teaching from Don McClure on 1 Corinthians 15 - speaking about being steadfast, immovable! When you look up the word steadfast, some of the descriptions your given are "a marble statue" or "a wrestling position". A marble statue being immovable and a wrestling position being ready to receive a blow and it not affecting the wrestler.

Dont look at your problems and issues in your life and be discouraged. Look at your problems and think this is all the more reason to exist. Be immovable. Steadfast. Be a light to those people, issues and problems and bringing the Lord glory.
"I want to be poured out. I want to generate the most amount of power as I can"

After Don McClure, Don Stewart spoke a sermon entitled "Blessed are those eyes". Speaking about eschatology (topic of end times) and discussing the modern day israel and what the people thought during the first coming of the Lord and all the clear signs the Lord had given them that they were "blind to". - Matthew 13, Daniel 12:4

Finally, to end the night Jon Courson spoke on John 12:13-14 and asking/praying in Jesus Christ's name. He covered what it meant to ask in His name and praying in Jesus's name, which in turn glorifies the Lord. SUCH an amazing sermon with solid teaching backed up with scripture.

"and I will do whatever you ask in my name, so that the Father may be glorified in the son. You may ask me for anything in my name, and I will do it for you." vr 14

Praying in Jesus's name also requires us to pray in harmony with Jesus's nature, conformity to Him and in congruent with what Jesus would pray.
Keeping in mind, that whatever you ask in his name will always be answered, BUT the answer might be different then what you envisioned it to be. It will be BETTER than what you dreamed. The "key" to seeing the answer for what you prayed for in Jesus's name is seeing it differently than what you expected or envisioned.
Finally ending with a fun quote: "Every name is odd. Every name is flawed. but not Gods!"

Ok, so I know my blog posts are not normally this wordy, but these were all very important things that happened today, and since I had no photos to tell my story, I had to tell you in words.
We ended the day with some wonderful worship music.

A day of rest . . .

Sunday. A day of rest, and probably one of my favorite days so far!

It started off with a church service at Calvary Christian Center. The worship and teaching was awesome! Very refreshing and a good experience! Then we had lunch with some family friends at Applebee's and enjoyed our time visiting with them!

THEN. (one of my favorite parts of our vacation so far) We went to the Southeast Museum of Photography where they had a Douglas Kirkland exhibit!! Such an amazing photographer and I LOVED it!!

Once we left the museum, we drove around Daytona for a little while, drove on the beach, got some coffee, and just had some good quality fam time together! :) So wonderful!

Bargain Shopping

Let me tell you. I love a good deal! I buy 90% of my clothing from consignment stores, on sale, and clearance. Saving money is fun to me! Thats why I love flea markets. You can find some of the neatest things for a great deal at flea markets, yard sales, etc.

SO we had a casual morning with the Wallace's and then headed to the flea market. I didn't take very many photos of today, but i'll show you some of the fun trinkets we found.

So this just made me laugh. Selling tombstones at a flea market???? Thats awful.

LOVED this old phone. wanted to get it so bad!

Jacksonville Journeys

Day two. Jacksonville city journeys.

We walked allll over today :) We first went to the zoo and saw all the animals, then headed over to MOSH, The Museum of Science and History. We held birds, saw the second longest snake in the world, brushed goats fur, learned about Jacksonville's history, took LOTS of pictures, and had fun! :) Here are some photos from our fun filled day!

So I decided that since this is the first vacation of 2012, and I hadn't posted my first blog post yet (yes i'm behind, im on break) :) I decided what better time than this?

My goal?

Making one blog post a day (as best as I can).

We'll see how this goes :)

. . . so the journey begins . . .

Ever been on family vacation? . . .

Well even if you have, you've never been on a FARMER family vacation. and let me tell you. Its quite the adventure!

We love to travel! We love to laugh! We love to see new places! but MOST of all we love to do it together!

We are taking the next week to make our way down the east coast of Florida and ending up in Coco Beach for the @Calvary Chapels Pastor Conference.

Our first stop? St Johns - aka Jacksonville FL. We are staying with some good family friends of ours Johnny, his wife Cheryl, and their daughter Briana.

Traveling, mexican food, and finally our very own personal "worship sesh" has made for a very good day.

We hit the road and headed towards jacksonville fl. About a five hour drive...

We listen to music, do homework, and I take photos :)

Worship music and YES. Coffee :)

Then that night we worshiped for a couple hours! Mr Johnny taught the cords to the boys and they all played guitar. I have a talented family, thats for sure! :)

Best Friends

Everyone has a best friend. Either someone they've known their entire lives, or someone they've only known for a short period of time. In my case I've known this person my entire life. My sister. When we are together it is non-stop laughing and having fun.... We can sit there and cry laughing with each other and no one around us will no why were laughing except us. We ~~always~~, at least for the most part get along all the time. :) We can do anything together and we will always have each other when were old and gray. :)

Since I'm a photographer, I have the pleasure of deciding exactly how I want my sisters senior portraits to look, without paying an arm and a leg to the school photographers. When I was thinking about how I wanted these images to look, I decided I wanted them different, more like a fashion shoot then a standard senior shoot. Something that really portrayed some of the things that she loves. So for one part of the shoot we took her to a friend of ours horse farm and I was able to get some gorgeous images!! She is so photogenic and beautiful to photograph that she makes my job easy!! Here are some of the images from our shoot last saturday. More to come soon!

Living life to the fullest.

One of the things that I strive to do as a follower of Christ, as a daughter to my parents, as a sister, as a friend, and as a photographer, is to live life to the fullest. Striving towards a stronger-better relationship with the Lord, my parents, friends and family. As well as growing as a business women and making my photography business better. In that process, its always helpful when you are working and striving towards something you love to do. Something you have a passion for and a desire to move forward in. So in saying all of that. . .

Recently I had the opportunity to drive to atlanta with my good friend Bridgit Mcbee (McBee Photography) and attend the WPPI U photography convention. While I was there they really tried to impress on their audience that video was a wonderful way to show clients really who you are as a photographer. So as soon as I got home I went to work. . .

I met Justin Robinson through a good friend of mine at my church. He is currently going to NGU for Brodcast Media and Theater. I had seen many of his films and loved his work!! So I called him on my way home from atlanta and thats where the planning began. To get to know justin a little better and see what kind of work he does I thought i'd show you, so you arent just taking my word for it . . .

Precious Baby Innocence

I love children.
Period.

There is something about their sweet innocence that is amazing to me. There big curious eyes and wonder for the world around them. Well this week I had the pleasure of photographing the cutest well behaved "little man". He was so good for me and was awesome to photograph. His parents clearly adored him and I loved being able to watch them interact with him and watch this wonderful family love each other. Here are some of my favorites from the shoot. It was so hard to pick just a few because I loved so many of them.

Timing was perfect

For this particular wedding that I photographed I already knew the bride and her family, and it was so wonderful for me to reunite with them all. The timing of this couple's meeting, engagement, and then wedding was completely the Lord's timing and they radiated the Lords love and blessing. I truly enjoyed being able to photograph their wedding for them and spend the weekend with them. Here are some of my favorites from the wedding that I thought i'd share with you.

Project Light.

Since I've only ever posted my photography projects here on my blog I decided to mix it up a bit and start posting some of my art projects that I tackle. This project I found online at one of my favorite sites. Pinterest. Its a lamp made out of doilies, wallpaper paste, and a balloon. I picked up a hanging lamp kit at walmart for five bucks and I bought the doilies at a local consignment store for eight bucks. Cheapest lamp i've ever bought!

and of course since my passion is my photography I made it a photography project as well. :)

I gathered the supplies I needed: Paintbrush, plastic container to hold the paste, newspaper, wallpaper paste, and of course a glass of ice water! Need to stay hydrated :)

I took the balloon and marked where the doilies were going to lay on the balloon so it was easier once the doilies were covered in the wallpaper paste.

I then cut the extra parts off that I didnt want on the doilies.. I didnt think this matched very well....

We then started covering the balloon with the soaked doilies, this was a little harder than I thought it was going to be... but we eventually got it to work.

I assembled the light kit that I bought at walmart, and I bought a clear round light bulb so it would match the overall design of the lamp!

Now we wait for it to dry..... :)

I'll post the finished product as soon as it's dry.... :)

Camp Happy Days 2011

Before I start I want to tell you a little about Camp Happy Days.

"Camp Happy Days is our largest and most exciting event of the year. Brimming with excitement and anticipation, more than 160 children with cancer and their siblings will arrive at Camp Bob Cooper eager to discover a dream world awaiting them. For this entire time, they will leave the worries of parents and doctors, hospitals and cancer, far behind, trading them in for new friends, laughter, and near-endless surprises…many of which are very BIG." - http://www.camphappydays.org/

So.... I went to camp happy days as a photographer for my first time this year, not really knowing how it was going to be. Kind of nervous.... kind of on edge, and a little discombobulated as to exactly what was to be expected of me. Well let me tell you...... it was the most spectacular camp I have ever been to!!!!! I had SO much fun with all the kids being able to photograph their joy and happiness as they enjoy heaven on earth for one week. The kids do a variety of activities and ALL of them are creative, fun, and so enjoyable for all the kids. It was truly a blessing and joy to be able to meet all of the children and counselors that have been going for so many years. I would have to say that camp happy days is probably one of the most addicting things ever! You dont want the week to end, and you cant wait for next year! :) Its most definitely an experience that I will never forget.

Colors, spring, love, and the Lord. This couple was such a blessing to work with. I recently shot their spring wedding in april and was so blessed to be able to see the Lord shine so brightly in their wedding and celebration. It was a joy to photograph them and I loved all the images I was able to capture at their wedding. Thank you evan and alicia for showing me how to make the Lord the center of a wedding. It was truly a blessing.

So I decided, that after all this talk about all my clients and the different photo shoots I have had, I would tell you a little about myself.... In a not so ordinary way....

Oh, for a heart that does not ache

For a backbone that won't break

For some steady feet or sturdy ground

So I chose to start off with a photo, of what I start my day off with.. Coffee... An amazing "wake me up", "make me a morning person" drink. Always gets me going in the morning :)

My Lord, my Father, and my God... A huge part of my life that I hope is apparent everyday. Staying in the word, fellowship with believers, worshiping the Lord, and praying non-stop.

Candles. There are never enough candles. All different sizes, shapes, smells.... <3

My sister is one of my best friends, we laugh together, cry together, bug each other, love each other, and are always there for each other.

Sailing... Oh, there is nothing better than sailing.. The sounds of the wind in the sails, the water lapping up against the side of the boat, the sun in your face. It is truly one of the most amazing things to do on earth. When your on a sailboat nothing else matters, everything else fades away and you are just blessed with the wonderful ocean God created for us around you.

Children are God's blessing to us. I have a huge heart for children, and a huge heart for missions... I have visited Nicaragua on two different occasions, and didn't want to come home. I loved all the children, all the people, and all the happiness they have their. I would go back tomorrow if I could!

Friends, time spent together, and movie nights, three of my favorite things all combined into one.

Charleston SC. One of the most beautiful places on earth (at least in my eyes). :) My home, the place I've grown up and will forever be where my heart is.

Puzzles are always a favorite :)

The beach I would have to say is my favorite thing to do in the summer. I love the sand, the waves, the salt water, the beach football and ultimate frisbee. I love everything about the BEACH. <3

Speaking of waves, surfing is something else I enjoy.

Well I hope this has helped you learn a little about your photographer. I love being a photographer, I love my family, I love my home, I love my friends, and above all else. I love the Lord.

Memories That Last

For this couple I was blessed to be able to capture their wedding, and create lasting memories with them. Football Season

High school football has been a completely different experience for me.

Photographing football is a little more complicated then I thought. I love to watch college football, but I have realized that I didn't know how the all american sport, we call football, is played. I understand the basic concept, but all the "flags" "whistles" "calls" and "timeouts" I don't always understand. So thankfully in photographing my home church's high school football team I have learned a thing or two. :)

Family & Love

Family. Family means everything to me, without it I wouldn't be where I am. Without it I wouldn't be who I am; and without family I wouldn't be headed in the direction I am going.
Family also means LOVE to me, it's getting together and laughing, getting together and being supportive of each other, and getting together to eat. Grandparents, Aunts, Uncles, Cousins, Sisters, Brothers, Mothers, Fathers, everyone gathering together to celebrate a special occasion.
On this particular day, our family was gathering together to celebrate my second cousins 1st birthday!!

Sibling Rivalry

Function: n : is a type of competition or animosity among brothers and sisters within a family

That's at least the definition from our Mr Webster, however; I think at the end of the definition it should say something like "in love for each other" or "to show affection through teasing",
because for this family, sibling rivalry was just a way they showed love to each other. Photographing this family was fun and entertaining, and also showed me what kids will do to please their mother. This family is gorgeous, funny, and was a blessing to photograph.

Traveling Senior

Your senior year of high school is supposed to be your easiest year right?

At least that's what everyone has always said. "Oh, don't worry, come senior year and it will be a breeze". I know for me, it most definitely wasn't my easiest year of high school, it was actually probably my hardest. For this beautiful senior I'm not sure if it's her easiest or her hardest year, however; this weekend was probably one of her most fun. We spent the day downtown Charleston, and out on the beautiful beach of folly in the sand and sun.

She is not only beautiful, funny, and smart but also an amazing woman of God. She traveled all the way from Raleigh, NC and gave me the privilege of photographing her senior portraits. It was a very eventful, exciting, fun filled day and I was blessed to be able to be a part of her last year of high school, even if it was in a small way.

The Legend's

My mother, being married to a surfer, has always said that "all surfers are a legend in their own mind". After spending five hours at folly watching the massive waves from hurricane earl, and observing all the surfers, I've come to the conclusion that she is right. Some are better than others, some think their better than others, and some are humble enough to admit that sometimes they cant always catch the wave as quick as everyone else.... sometimes.... :) It was such a joy to be able to spend the whole day at the beach in the sand doing what I love, My Passion, right along side all these men and woman who were also spending their day doing what they love, Their Passion.

Surfing.

The family I was privileged to photograph surfing are very close and dear to my family and it was wonderful to be able to give them the photo's that truly showed they are "a legend".

A one of a kind sport, that truly shows God's amazing, beautiful world He's created for us to live in and enjoy. <3

I love that the bird is surfing the waves too......

The day ended with two boards being broken, but four very blessed and happy surfers~
